Neuro-oncologic treatment of gliomas during the COVID-19 pandemic: addressing the new challenges and opportunities

How should we be managing patients with gliomas during the COVID-19 pandemic? How can we best provide effective ongoing neuro-oncologic treatment while at the same time protecting patients from unnecessary risk?

The past few months have seen major changes in how hospitals have been managing patients, affecting all clinical disciplines including neuro-oncology. Early on in the pandemic, I and other members of an international group collaborating on developing glioma treatment guidelines for the American Society for Clinical Oncology decided to begin a separate project – to develop recommendations on how to approach glioma care during the current pandemic.
